How Is Botox Performed?

The Botox^® procedure is performed in our office and should take only a few minutes. Our trained Botox^® technician will use a very fine needle to inject the diluted botulinum toxin type A solution into the targeted facial muscles. Once the Botox^® begins to take effect, your facial muscles will appear relaxed and wrinkle-free, leaving you with a much more youthful, rejuvenated appearance.

What Kind of Post-Operative Botox Care Can I Expect?

Botox^® has been appropriately dubbed a “lunchtime procedure,” as patients experience little to no downtime. After the injection, you’re free to resume normal daily activities immediately. There are no incisions, bandages, or anything of the like, and side effects are typically limited to some minor bruising and headaches.

Your doctor may advise you, however, to avoid lying down for at least four hours or rubbing the treated area for at least 12 hours after the procedure, as this could cause the solution to travel to other areas of the body.

What Are the Typical Results of Botox?

Most of our Botox^® patients are thrilled with their results, which includes younger, more supple-looking skin following treatment. It’s important to remember, however, that Botox^® is not a permanent solution. While results last from three to six months, the treated muscles will eventually regain their ability to contract and the wrinkles will reappear. Follow-up injections are recommended at this point.
