How Do Facial Lasers Work?
At McRae MD Medical Laser Center, we offer CO2 laser treatments that enhance the surface of the skin where many issues are found. Facial lasers work by removing the outer cells that are damaged by aging, sun exposure and other factors. This process not only refreshes the skin surface, but also stimulates cell turnover.
Dr. McRae tailors the procedure to the individual patient’s needs, which may involve localized applications of the laser energy to target specific concerns or using the CO2 laser on the entire face.
Smaller treatments can typically be performed with local anesthesia, and treatment over the entire face may require a sedative or general anesthesia. This varies by patient.
The laser energy is applied in short bursts, and each application of the laser feels similar to snapping a rubber band against your skin. Localized treatments may take up to 45 minutes, and full facial laser treatments may take an hour or longer.

What Results Can I Expect?
After your CO2 laser resurfacing treatment, your skin may appear slightly pink or red, and it will be sensitive to sunlight. You should minimize the amount of time that you spend outdoors and use a high-quality sunscreen. Full recovery from facial lasers can take up to two weeks.
Are Facial Lasers Right for Me?
CO2 laser resurfacing is good for most skin types. Patients with darker skin or acne may not be good candidates, and Dr. McRae will recommend a more appropriate treatment option. Facial lasers are not recommended for stretch marks.
How Much Do Facial Lasers Cost?
